December Community Service
December Service Hours: 4 hrs
Cumulative Semester Hours: 14 hrs
During the month of December, I had the opportunity to volunteer with two meaningful organizations: HEROS and a local daycare. Both experiences allowed me to give back to the community while supporting children in environments focused on growth, learning, and care.
At HEROS, I assisted with youth workshops designed to expose children to valuable life skills and educational topics. I helped support the activities by engaging with the kids, offering guidance when needed, and ensuring they felt comfortable participating. It was rewarding to see their curiosity and enthusiasm as they learned new concepts and asked thoughtful questions. Being part of an organization that prioritizes youth development and empowerment reinforced the importance of community-based education.
I also volunteered at a daycare, where I assisted with daily classroom operations. My responsibilities included helping children during mealtimes, restocking classroom supplies, and supporting teachers with various classroom needs. These tasks helped maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for the children.
This semester in the Tulane Pharmacology program has been especially enjoyable and enriching. I have appreciated the supportive faculty, engaging coursework, and the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world service experiences. The program has strengthened my passion for healthcare and community involvement, making this semester both meaningful and rewarding.
